About Helen Hunter Mackenzie

Message Architect & Brand Positioning Strategist

Turning complexity into clarity — and clarity into competitive advantage.

A career built on bringing great ideas to life.

I've spent my career at the intersection of strategy and execution — helping organizations articulate their vision, align their teams, and achieve measurable impact. My approach combines analytical rigor with a deep understanding of how people actually receive and act on information, grounded in practical realities.

From building clinical program operations from the ground up to facilitating a $2.6M acquisition from strategic positioning through close, I've led initiatives that demand both strategic vision and hands-on leadership. I believe the best strategies are meaningless without exceptional execution — and that the organizations doing the most substantive work are often the ones least able to articulate why it matters.

Today I work with select executives and organizations who are ready to elevate their communications, strengthen their positioning, and lead with clarity. I'm particularly drawn to the challenges that live at the intersection of strategy and story — where what an organization is and how the world understands it are finally brought into alignment.

The Longer Version.

My professional life has had two distinct chapters — and a through line that only became obvious in retrospect.

The first chapter was in medical technology and life sciences. I spent over a decade managing clinical research programs for a variety of venture-backed startups, leading cross-functional teams across multi-site national and global studies, and contributing to successful FDA product approvals. The work demanded precision, structure, and the ability to translate highly technical information for multiple audiences simultaneously. It's where I learned that complexity is never the problem — only a failure to make complex things clear.

The second chapter began in 2012 when I founded Hunter Mackenzie Group, an international consulting practice that grew to serve bestselling authors, education companies, and recognized thought leaders. Over more than a decade I've guided organizations through positioning, brand architecture, content strategy, and the communications infrastructure that makes all of it work. I also built and led Centerpoint, a boutique agency delivering web design, content strategy, and marketing systems to clients across multiple industries.

Today I bring both chapters to bear. I bring the operational rigor of someone who has built real programs in regulated, high-stakes environments, and the strategic communications instincts of someone who has spent years helping organizations find and articulate their most compelling story.

On a Personal Note

I live in Arizona where, when I'm not working or taking in one of the Southwest’s breathtaking sunsets, I'm usually immersed in a home project — I have a lifelong passion for interior design and the way spaces communicate.

I'm the proud mom of a son who serves in the U.S. Army. I read constantly — primarily business thinkers like Peter Drucker, Jim Collins, and Clay Christensen — and I'm genuinely fascinated by the question of how organizations and people become and remain excellent.
